Lower House Farm

  • How does the payment process work for Lower House Farm? The price at LHF is per person for your selected catered option, with a minimum group size of 20 people. You can book your stay online via the calendar at the bottom of the Lower House Farm page. We take a 30% deposit payment from each group member - or for the group as a whole - within 7 days of booking, by BACS transfer. Once a booking is placed by a group member, we will generate an invoice which can be shared amongst the group with our payment details. Additional activities can be booked and paid for either at the time of booking or up to 7 days prior to arrival.
  • Can I book camping without the catering option at Lower House Farm? In a word, no! We provide a full holiday experience at LHF, so all group members must select the same catering options (activities can be 'added on' by individual members). You won't regret this - we promise...
  • Are children welcome at Lower House Farm? Absolutely - more than welcome! We have a little boy of our own who loves making friends with visiting families, and we have special rates for children under 12 (babies and toddlers stay for free)
  • Do you charge 'corkage'? No, please bring your own drinks and we'll provide the glasses/do the washing up!
  • Can we choose our menu? And can you cater for my dietary requirements? Guests will have the option of choosing from three menus (the entire group must select the same menu, but we can adjust some meals for vegetarians/vegans) and we can of course cater for any dietary requirements, please just contact us on booking with details
  • Is there a pub nearby? Yes, in the local village - approximately 1.5 miles away, a very nice walk. The village also hosts an excellent shop/post-office with lots of local produce, books and gifts
  • What time can I arrive? And what time do we need to vacate? You can arrive from 3pm on Friday onwards; please let us know when you intend to arrive as we will be there to greet you. Guests don't need to vacate the farm until Sunday at 1pm.
  • How do the composting toilets work? Our composting toilets are British-made, bespoke designs that are highly environmentally friendly. They are just like ordinary toilets to use, except instead of flushing a lever you simply throw a scoop of sawdust down the bowl
  • How is the site laid out? Camping facilities are arranged in one of our two river meadows.  The composting loos are a (very!) short walk away on the other side of the field, as is the old railway carriage with a sink and fridge. You are able to drive cars up to the entrance to the camping field and there is parking very near by. The guest barn is located just across the farmyard, right next to the parking area.
  • Is there an additional charge per tent? No, there is a fixed per-person charge for the full two-night weekend, which includes catering, camping and use of our facilities. Additional activities can be 'added on' very easily
  • Can I bring my dog? We would love to say yes to this but sadly because of  our position on a farm we aren't able to accept dogs. Our dog Piper will be here and is very friendly, you are more than welcome to borrow her for a game of fetch or two! We also have a sheepdog called Tia who can be seen out working in the mornings.
  • Are there fire pits? Yes, there is a large fire-pit in the camping field beside the stream
  • What animals are there on the farm? We are a native-breeds farm, and we currently have a flock of Hardwick sheep, a herd of Belted Galloway and Traditional Hereford cattle and some Oxford Sandy and Black pigs.
  • What if I need to cancel my holiday? What if one group member drops out? Sadly we are not able to offer refunds for cancelled holidays. We will do our utmost to transfer the holiday to alternate dates if given sufficient notice to resell the original dates. If one member of your group 'drops out' you are welcome to bring a different guest to take up that space, but would need to work that out between yourselves. We'd just need the new guest's details before arrival
  • What do I need to bring? Your tent, sleeping bag, walking boots/wellingtons - and your appetite!
  • Can I host a wedding or other event at LHF? Yes, absolutely! Please contact us for details and to discuss event options and pricing
